The Evolution Difference
Our Kids Martial Arts program follows a proven, high-standard curriculum set by our larger martial arts organization — the same system that has produced champions at the national and world level. Led by 4X National Champion and Black Belt Hall of Fame Member Greg Hussey, every class is delivered with the discipline, structure, and excellence that standard demands.
World Class Karate is our foundation. We integrate "Life Skills" into every single class — values like respect, perseverance, and integrity are taught alongside every kick and block. Master Donna Hussey — 2019 Team USA Bronze Medalist and 4th in the World at the World Top Ten Championships — also works directly with our younger students. Parents consistently tell us the changes they see at home are just as impressive as what happens on the mat.
What Your Child Gains
Every belt earned, every technique mastered, every class completed builds a child's belief in themselves. This confidence carries into school, friendships, and every challenge they face.
Martial arts demands attention and presence. Children who train consistently show measurable improvements in focus, academic performance, and the ability to follow through on tasks.
We teach children to carry themselves with confidence and awareness. They learn to de-escalate situations verbally and have the physical skills to protect themselves if necessary.
Our classes build strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination in a way that's fun and engaging. Kids get a full-body workout without even realizing it.
From bowing when they enter the mat to listening to their instructors, children learn respect as a practice, not just a concept. These habits transform behavior at home and in school.
Your child will train alongside other kids who share the same values. The friendships formed on the mat are some of the strongest and most positive of their lives.
Real Parent Stories
These are real stories from parents whose children train at Evolution. The results speak for themselves.
"Your program has taught my child so many important character building qualities and skills. The transformation from the first day of class to today warms my heart! Your program is able to teach toddlers to follow direction and respect others while simultaneously having a blast doing it!"
"I wasn't sure that karate would be something my kids would enjoy, but after watching my kids attend a trial lesson, I signed them up. The vibe of the gym feels serious and welcoming. The evolution of my kids' confidence and general positive outlook because of our experience here has been amazing — a true blessing."
"The staff at Evolution Martial Arts is amazing! My daughter loves going and has made new friends. I love how they teach everyone that they are a family at Evolution and we cheer and encourage all of our classmates. I would recommend Evolution Martial Arts to everyone!"
"Our boys have been taking their lessons for 2 years and have loved every session. Every staff member is very attentive while providing the utmost training lessons. A truly great and friendly environment where everyone felt part of the family. We highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to change their lives for the better."
"My daughter has been attending for almost a year now and absolutely loves the sport but more importantly the staff. We upgraded to the 'black belt club' after my daughter complained that she wanted to go even more! Owner and his wife are very inspirational to the kids and organize team competitions. I would highly recommend this academy!"
Emma walked into her first Little Warriors class barely able to tie her shoes. She was shy, wouldn't make eye contact, and clung to her mom's hand at the door. By the end of class, she was bowing to her instructor and asking when she could come back.
Six months in, Emma's teacher pulled her parents aside — not for a problem, but to say she'd noticed a change. Emma was raising her hand in class, helping other students, and finishing her work with focus she hadn't shown before.
Emma tested for her 1st Degree Yellow and passed with confidence. She was no longer the shy girl at the door — she was calling out her techniques with a clear voice and a straight back.
Emma competed in her first tournament at Orange 2nd Degree. She didn't win — but she bowed to her opponent, shook hands, and walked off the mat with her head up. Her dad said it was one of the proudest moments of his life.
By 1st Degree Orange, Emma was the one encouraging the newer students before class. Master Hussey noticed her leadership and started giving her small responsibilities on the mat.
Green belt felt different. The techniques were harder, the expectations higher. Emma struggled with a new kata for weeks — and then one day it clicked. That moment taught her more about perseverance than any lecture ever could.
By Green 1st Degree, Emma was helping teach the younger Warrior 1 students. The girl who once hid behind her mom was now the one a nervous 4-year-old looked up to on the mat.
Blue belt marked a turning point. Emma's focus sharpened, her combinations became fluid, and her teachers started talking about her as a future competitor. She began training with the competition team.
At Blue 1st Degree, Emma placed 2nd at a regional tournament — her first medal. She cried on the podium, not from disappointment, but because she realized how far she'd come from that first nervous class.
Purple belt is where champions are made. Emma's training intensified — longer sessions, harder sparring, more responsibility. She embraced every challenge. Her parents barely recognized the confident young woman on the mat.
Red belt marked a pivotal moment — Emma was no longer just a student, she was becoming a leader. She began assisting with younger classes, reinforcing her own skills while giving back to the community that shaped her. Master Hussey saw a future instructor.
Brown belt is the final step before black. Emma trained with a focus and intensity that surprised even her instructors. She knew what was coming, and she wanted to earn every inch of it.
Seven years after her first class, Emma earned her Black Belt in front of her family, her classmates, and Master Hussey. She didn't just earn a belt — she became a different person. Confident, disciplined, resilient. Ready for anything.
Emma's story is a composite of real journeys we've witnessed at Evolution Martial Arts over 40+ years. Every child's path is different — but the transformation is real.

Research shows that bullies target children who appear uncertain, fearful, or isolated. Our kids who train at EMA carry themselves differently — with eye contact, posture, and calm that signals confidence. That alone changes how peers treat them.
We also teach children exactly what to do when they encounter bullying — how to respond verbally, how to remove themselves from the situation, and when and how to involve an adult. These are life skills that last far beyond the dojo.
